Night Magic Designs is a fire & dance collective performance group based in Chicago, IL. With nearly a dozen artists and growing, Night Magic Designs combines elements from across the world and fuses it with science-fiction and throws in a dash of fantasy. Twisting together film, artwork, costumes, fire spinning and live music, each Night Magic performance is truly a unique and living entity.
SHANNARA BATHORY
Born in a small town, Shannara has always had a strong wanderlust. A self-taught classical bellydancer, she became inspired by Ariellah, a world-class bellydancer, and began learning Gothic Tribal Fusion Bellydancing in 2009. After many years of travel, fate brought her to a festival, called Lakes of Fire, in 2010. There she quickly discovered her calling as a performer and with a spark began her training with fire fans. She continued honing her skills with fire & dance and, in 2010, her first stage performance took place at the Metro in Chicago.
In 2012, she founded Night Magic Designs. In addition to being the Manager of NMD, she is also a skilled jeweler, dreadlocks-weaver & bone-shifter. Fueled by wild passion and fiery love, she has sworn not to stop dancing until she has shared her light with every culture and felt the earth beneath her feet all across the globe.
NINJA
Lisa was raised in Wisconsin, where her small town origins stirred a desire to break from the mold. She traveled across the eastern coast before landing in Chicago. During her travels she was mesmerized by a fire staff artist at Pennsic. Thus her journey through the flames began.
Her style of performance stems from her love of the martial arts. She has over 10 years of experience in various styles, earning her the title of "Ninja". A master of Kasai-Do (the way of fire), she specializes in various tools, including Fire Sword, Fire Staff, Flow wand, Buugeng and Palm Torches. She is always seeking to involve more martial weapons in creative ways.
LINK
Link was born at Lakes of Fire, after living the simple community life he was chosen by the sages to fulfill a great destiny. Returning to his home village he came across the greatest companions a simple man could hope for, Epona and Navi, fire poi that would remain forever at his side. It was then that Link’s journey truly began and he found a home in Night Magic Designs.
With much honor, Link now strives to show his new family that he can be, not just a Hero of Time, but also a Hero of Fire.
SEBASTIAN
The Time Lord behind the curtain, Sebastian was raised in theater and applies his experience in photography, graphic design, playwriting and directing to every Night Magic Designs performance.
With a non-linear perspective of time, he is able to see all that is, was and could be. With that, he takes great care in managing NMD's website, videos, marketing, accounts, events and personal affairs.
In his free-time, he paints, plays the dobro and travels about the c0smos, discovering new species and rare phenomenon.
NYXIE
Born in Wisconsin, Nyxie grew up in a woodland setting and has always had a strong imagination. She grew up loving the arts and has always done everything possible to be involved. An aspiring dancer from an early age, she has studied many forms of dance, including ballet, hip hop and ballroom.
She currently manages two companies; "Toxic Photography" and "Toxic Designs", where she lets her creative outlet stream forth in numerous crafts, varying from photography, home decor, costuming, and fashion & theatrical makeup. She hopes to one day open up own her own photography and craft studio.
As an Agent of Discordia, Chaos seems to follow her wherever she goes and with natural presence, she lights up the room literally and figuratively wherever she goes.
